Korean Hangul is one of the most logical writing systems in the world — but typing it online can be confusing at first. This guide explains how syllable blocks work and how to type Korean on any device for free.

How Korean Hangul Works

Unlike alphabets where letters sit side by side in a line, Korean Hangul groups letters into syllable blocks. Each block contains 2 or 3 jamo (individual letters): an initial consonant (초성), a vowel (중성), and optionally a final consonant (종성).

This means you never type isolated characters — you always type sequences that combine into complete syllable squares. It sounds complex but becomes completely natural after a few minutes of practice.
